To be able to sell your product in the eCommerce business, an interesting and effective product description can be very helpful. Here are some tips I found in this Shopify article by Henneke Duistermaat: https://www.shopify.ca/blog/8211159-9-simple-ways-to-write-product-descriptions-that-sell
The first tip is to focus on the ideal buyer. Think about their interests, sense of humor, and what words they like or hate. Use the word "you" as if you're having a conversation with your buyer. Try to incorporate hypothetical face-to-face dialogue in your product description.
Another tip is to avoid mundane and overused phrases such as "excellent product quality." These are called (by the author) "yeah, yeah" phrases, because people will see those phrases and think "yeah, yeah everyone says that." Saying "yeah, yeah" phrases can deter potential buyers and make your product seem bland. Instead, describe details and their given benefits. For example: Water resistant coating (detail) to keep your feet dry in rainy or wet conditions (benefit).
A final tip is to use superlatives. Include data and reviews to prove why your product is better than the competition. If your product is patented, say it. It gives the reader the impression that what they're buying is different and special. Use percentages to further your credibility.
